Oliver super 55 steering question

Got back to installing this steering system in my super 55 and have some questions I hope someone has answer to.

First question is when this is removed out of the tractor you can see into the housing below. Is this housing to be
filled with some sort of lubricant? Mine is empty. I know it was empty when I took the steering box off. But before I
reassemble things I want to make sure. If there is to be something in there what is it?

Second question is, is there a gasket between the housing below and the steering box to keep this liquid if there is
to be any in and or to keep out the water? I don't remember taking one off when I got the steering off and shipped to
Kent. It doesn't have one on there now. I don't want to assemble it all up to find I need to take it apart and put
one in. So if I am to have one where do I find it?

Thanks guys.

I will assume you mean below the steering gear housing, inside the center frame, No, there is no fluid below there and there is no gasket. Just fill the steering gear housing with JD corn head grease and install it back on the center frame cover. Maybe the pictures will help.

Thanks that's what I was thinking. I didn't remember any gasket when I took it off but that was weeks ago and didn't remember. No fluid in the lower housing great. Yup filling the steering housing with corn head grease. Sets my mind at ease I am doing this right. Thanks for the reply.
