1950 Hydraulic Front Wheel Assist

Dad and I just brought home a 1950 Oliver with the GM diesel and a Levy Hydraulic Front Wheel Assist unit. The unit is complete including the fiberglass cover over the front pump but the driveshaft to the pump is unhooked. Does anyone know where I could find a service book for the front wheel drive unit so that I can try to get it operational again. Also, is this a factory unit or aftermarket?

One year in service school we were given manuals on the hydraulic front wheel assist tractors. So Charles City should be able to help you. I may have my copy yet and can look up the publication number, but unless it rains we have corn to get done for probably the next week to 10 days, longer at the rate it is going. So not before then. J.

Thanks for the quick reply J, and any information you have. This is our first Oliver tractor, we collect John Deere, so I will probally have a few questions. How do I get ahold of this Charles City?

I understand the harvesting situation. Here in central MO by the time the crops got dry enough, the rain set in. Alot of the big farmers around here aren't half done yet

It is the museum in Charles City, Ia. They have all the old records and manuals from Oliver. Try to google them or may be a link thru the HPOCA website. Chris

They also sell build cards for 1954 and newer tractors.
Just found out that my Super 66 was born on Jan. 28, 1955. and shipped to Kansas City, KS. They also show what the engine serial number should be and what options the tractor was equipped with.

Thanks for all the replys, I will give the Floyd County Museum a call. Does anybody have any idea of the production numbers of the 1950 with or without the front wheel assist?
