Cuckshutt 540 rear hub spline

Gentlemen ,

I have a rear hub that's badly worn , the spline is very loose on the male spline that drives it . Has
anyone repaired on of these ? Is there a replacement sleeve with the spline that could be welded
in ? I don't imagine there are any replacements available .

Hi,

New replacement splined inserts are not available.

We have running and salvage 540 tractors and used hubs. We have parts on stock for all Cockshutt built Cockshutt tractors.

all you need to do is clean off both the axle and hub very well so no grease or oil residue and then ensure the seal is new..... then put a whole bunch of red locktite on the axle and hub.... use a washer on the nut and tighten very tight.... it will hold very well and much cheaper than a used one.... if u have to get it off it takes a lot of heat but can be done.
