2-70 Over Under Disassembly

I'm in the process of disassembling the over under and I am having trouble getting the output shaft out of the housing. I've got the countershaft support out and the countershaft is down out of the way. According to the I&T manual the next step is to remove the output shaft, direct drive clutch and internal ring gear. The output shaft isn't budging. Any ideas of what I may be missing? Thanks!

Have you taken the nut off the end of the output shaft? The direct and over clutches, ring gear, and output shaft, all come out together.

I did take the nut off already. I thought that the assembly would just slide out. Does it take much force or does it have to be lined up somehow?

I missed the o-ring on the output shaft. It was old and brittle enough to keep the shaft from coming out. I'm glad I didn't pull out the sledge hammer!
