880 charging ?

Sat for 6 weeks and battery is dead. Towed it and started right up. Gauge shows not charging. Next time I tow start it is charging. Started several times during the day from the battery. Last time I started it, not charging.
Any Ideas on what the problem is. Thanks in advance.

When Mine acts up, it's one of two things. Either the regulator is sticking or the gen is not grounding. For the regulator a good tap on the side and it works for about six months and needs another tap. For the ground problem I take the generator off and shine up the area where it mounts to the bracket and then remove the bracket from the engine and clean up those spots. I put a little grease on the contact points and it's good for another year or so.
