1550 Hydra Power Drive

Hydra Power Drive seems to have just gone out instantly. Clutch seems to be operating properly. Hydra P Dr turning when clutch out and making grinding sounds. Removed chain coupler to trany and both joining gears seem to be still engaging the shafts at least by hand. Loosened filter on Hydra drive and seems to be near no preasure at filter and yes level is up. Not sure if it was in hydra or direct drive when I loosened it, may go out and try the shifter to see if same result. Tractor was at a low idle at the time. Realize I'm probablely looking at pulling motor clutch and drive but looking for an idea of whats wrong as I am just quessing here and would like to have a better idea before I jump into pulling the motor again.

I don't know about your drive problem, but if it for some reason needs the oil pump that is inside the hydra drive, and one from an 1850 is the same, I have a good one that you can have if you need it. I'll never use it. Let me know if you need it.

I'll keep the offer in mind. May come down to that but will not be sure for a bit. Where abouts are you located.

When you say the clutch is operating properly, what do you mean? That the pedal feels normal? I'm wondering if the center broke out of the clutch plate?

Well it seems to disengage properly when pushed in and no longer grinding noise happening with clutch in. Noise starts when clutch released. I did go out and try it again in both direct and hydra power and loosened the filter again near off with higher revs. No flow hardly at all, bubles a little out of the filter housing but no preasure. Thanks for your interest.

On thinking on it longer, it makes more sence to me what you were suggesting. I figure if the center did break out of clutch would have no preasure as hydra drive isn't turning. It does try to turn when clutch is released but not fully it seems. That for sure will mean pulling motor but I've done the clutch before so that not as intimading as the hyra power. Iwas hoping for a easier fix like a gloged return line or something although that might also involve pulling the motor. I don't know. Seems there ain't never no easy fix though.

The clutch in my 2-135 went out two years ago with no warning. It was the facing on that one,no grinding. The tractor just wouldn't move. I had disced all day with it. I got out of the field, stopped at the road and waited for traffic and when I tried to take off, nothing, not even an attempt to creep. I flipped the Over/Under lever several times, thinking that was it,but it wasn't.
