1650 questions

Hi guys, this is my first Oliver. My normal bad habits are the Fordson Majors but I stumbled across this 1650 the other day with a rod hanging out the side and I remembered that my cousin had an extra 1600 motor with a fresh crank and a cracked head so I now have some green stuff in my shop and a few questions.

Am I correct to assume the rods are interchangeable?

I'm assuming the engine in it is the 265 Wakesha (gas), but I'm starting to think It may not be the original one. The sleeves are the 3 3/4 bore but it has the early style crank seals (although I don't know when they changed), and it has no tac drive on the block and what I'm going to call a partial bypass oil filter system. The 1600 block I plan on using has the new style crank seals , the tac drive and the full pass oil filter set up.
if I'm reading the tag on the tractor correctly I'm thinking its a late 65'

Any help is greatly appreciated, and I'm sure I'll have a few more questions before we're done.

Thanks.

Pat

Is the 1600 a gas tractor? Take the casting numbers off the block, I think you have an 88 block made before the spring of 1950. Where is the head cracked? If any of the 2 heads are diesel heads, I would worry if they were NOT cracked. I would like to talk to you about your blue tractors. More questions? J.

Thanks for the info, both of these are gas and I believe the 1600 head is cracked between two seats.
I will have to use the 1600 carb as the 1650 carb got stolen, I'm assuming I will have to drill out the main jet, What size does it need to be?

What was your questions about the Fordsons?

Pat.

Will do Kevin! We'll be in Shiocton next weekend on the 19th, You'll have to stop over and see us.

Surprise Surprise! my old engine is from a 88..... the new engine is a 1600/1650, my good head doesn't work with the good block.
Anyone got a good 1600/1650 head (180902E or B) they want to trade for a good 88 head(190002)?

Double check your numbers, a 180 head would fit a 4 cylinder Oliver. A 1600/1650 and 1655 or a 2-70 gas head is easy to spot. They have a large pipe plug in the back of the head. Plus the valves are in the head at an angle.
