310 2 piece head leaks waterto outside when you fill engine with water. I would be
suspect that it also leaks to inside also. Is this normal? and would sealer be the
best solution to problem. It leaks where 2 pieces join together. thanks for help.

Mkuhns also there are 2 different head gaskets for a oil cooler block I ran into that on a rebuild I am still doing.

Yes there are, however the original question was what to do the solve the problem of coolant leaking between the upper and lower part of those 2 piece heads.

The part # for the A series was 105574A for the later heads it was 161526A (for two piece gas heads)they were not shown in the parts books and I doubt that they are still available. You had to remove the valve guides before taking the head apart. You also had to cut the holes for the guides. The last one I put in was about 38 years ago. I would be tempted to use a loctite product made for sealing flanges.

Let me clarify that I planned on using radiator sealer. this engine has just been built and it hasn't even been run. As old as they are I find it hard to believe that this is the first time this has happened. I may be missing something here, are you telling me that head gasket is the problem with water coming out of head where two pieces of head join together? Any info would be appreciated

I have a like new gasket that was installed in a head, but never put on a tractor. I could have that one scanned and replicas made, if you are interested...

If you are asking me- the numbers I gave are not head gaskets, they go between the two pieces of the head.

Yes, this is the gasket that goes between the 2 pieces in a 2 piece head. When I bought this one (nearly a decade ago), I was told this was one of the last ones available...
