1550 with a belt pulley

Over the year I have seen plenty of older Oliver with belt pulleys but I had never seen one on a 50 series tractor till today. The older owners and opperaters manuals had pictures in the back of the book showing special or extra equipment that could be bought to but on the 1550's. A friend told me this spring he had found one and bought it to put on he 1550 to use at the tractor show's. This is the very first one I have ever seen on a tractor in my life and he said the same thing. Anyway hear is a picture or 2 of it, It's just one of those things you never see. Oh he said he felt better using it after he took the lift arm off. Bandit

You have take one arm off to use it, I wouldn't say there that rare. No different then the 550 or 770 versions to find.

Well talking to him yesterday he did say that it will only fit the 1550's and 1600 only so it is kind of rare. The local old Oliver dealer said that they had never sold one or had never seen one at there dealership or even knew of anyone having one on a 1550 or 1600. It's for sure a good idem to have at a tractor show that's for sure. Bandit

I have one here, I'm 99% sure there is only version for the 4 digits and the 770/880 use the smaller one and then the 550 uses a different one again. I could check tonight or tomorrow to confirm there is only one 4 digit version.

O. K. The one in the picture will also fit the 770 & 880 tractors as well EXCEPT for a very very few early ones. The 1750 and up used a different housing to attach the belt pulley housing to the PTO case. Remember they also had a 1000 RPM belt pulley assembly to go along with the 540 version for the larger 4 digit tractors. We sold one and I did know where another one was.

What's the difference between the 1000 and 540, does the 1000 version reduce the pulley speed to 540?

That makes sense about the 770/880 pulleys being the same as the little 4 digits, I couldn't remember.

One of them seems like a good thing to have around if you're going to frequent working shows with your tractor. Wonder how many are sitting in the backs of barns and sheds around the country? I've seen them online, but never in person.

What is the ideal Feet Per Minute (or however you measure belt speed)?
