I need to change the oil seal on the three point draft control arm shaft located below the PTO on an Oliver 1650. It’s where the three point arms connect to the tractor. I need to pull the right shaft out to get to the seal. If I remove the PTO assembly can I get to the shaft inside the housing or do I have to remove the entire hydraulic assembly on top of the transmission to reach down and remove the bolt to allow me to slide the shaft out.

Unfortunately to get to the pinch bolts on the cross shaft you are going to have to pull the whole hydraulic unit off. Its really not to bad of a job though. I just got done doing it on my 1600. Heres a couple videos I did if it helps you out any. First one is pulling the hydraulic unit and second one is replacing the seals.

Remember when the PTO is removed on a 1650 he has a large opening to work through. He will need to keep track of the tension on the draft control spring.

Excellent video. That is a big help.

How much were the gaskets for the hydraulic pack? Was planning on cutting my own but sounds like they are available.

I think the large one for the hydraulic unit was $24 from AGCO. You need 2 of them. Kinda expensive but it is way easier than trying to cut them yourself because they are kinda unwieldy.

You don't have to pull the hydraulic unit. I changed those seals on my 1550. They leaked when I flushed the main case. I was able to get to them through the rear cover opening. I put a 15/16 box wrench on the heads and used a pry bar against the bull gears. Had to polish up the shafts for the new seals. I also put them in about 3/16 deeper and cut 1/4 inch felt strips to fill the gap under the washer and add a little extra dust protection.
