Help my steering turns right only update

I have the steering wheel finaly off. What a job! I will need a new wheel I'm sure. The wheel is quite damaged. Now on to the other parts, I have the spring off from under the steering wheel. There was also with the spring a cup, something like a reducing bushing, washer and then the spring and wheel. I did also take the steering shaft outer tube down to the first four bolts. There I found what looks like what remains of some berring races. The rest must be farthemr down. Question why would there be so many metal gaskets? They look more like shims to me. Maybe one of you may know. Not sure where to go to from here. Any ideas? I did order a manual but it looks like it will be next week before I get it. I did try to take pictures of the progress so if I need to refer back I can. Am I going to have to remove any more? If so what? Thanks guys for your help.

Thanks. Didn't know this was so intense to repair. I have the worm gear out and didn't see any bearing on the bottom of the shaft. It looks as though there is in the photo's you supplied. Where is it then? Any idea how I drain the oil from this so I can see where the parts are that should be visible? Is there a drain plug or something somewhere? Again thanks for the pictures will be of help.

I doubt if there is any oil in the casting they were notorious for not holding oil. Most guys use corn head grease. It stays soft in cold weather and won't leak out. There is a bearing held in at the bottom of the steering shaft by a small cap. However, that small cap isn't really necessary. My steering was already bugged up when I got my tractor. Someone had machined the bottom of the steering shaft and tried to install a different bearing. It was a fail. I bought a Ford steering shaft and had my original shaft welding onto it. It's a Franken-shaft. I wanted to save my splines for the Oliver steering wheel. The Ford is a bigger diameter. I can send you a parts drawing tomorrow if I can't find one on my computer tonight.

Here's the parts drawing. The parts you are probably interested in are:
#50 Steering gear upper bearing spring part # 1E 6781, #49 Steering gear upper bearing spring seat part # 1E 6780, #48 Steering gear upper bearing assembly part # 1ES 6779, #42 Steering gear worm thrust bearing cone part # 1L 6769, #43 Steering gear worm thrust bearing cup part # 1L-6770. Parts 61 and 62 aren't really necessary, it's a washer and cap that hold the bearing, but you wont' find it.

After looking at the folder I was given with the tractor I found a parts manual showing the same picture. Go figure I'd find it after I can here for help. Anyways the parts 61 & 62 aren't necessary you say? Where would they have gone? Are they sitting in the oil in the lower housing ( haven't drained it yet not sure how)? I've not been back in two days to work on the tractor so I haven't progressed much farther. I guess I'm going to need the two bearings with races and the cup and spring to get this back running. I'll have to know if I need to pull the pitman arms off and if so how? If I am ever to get this drained and cleaned I'll need to get the lower housing off. Thanks for your help.

Yup still have oil. Although much lower that what should be in there. I was wondering if I could repair this on the tractor or not but it looks like it needs to come off. I'll have to see if I can find a pitman puller to get those off. One step at a time.
