1650 Brake Oil Seal

I've got oil leaking into the brakes on both sides of my 1650, so I ordered oil seals for it, disassembled the brakes, and now I can't figure out where the seals go. The exploded view makes it look like they go on the outside of the brake housing, but I can't see any spot for them. Plus, the seals that they sent me have a inner diameter that is probably a half inch bigger than the shaft. Do those seal go inside the brake housing, and if so, how do I get that housing off?

Thanks for any info.

Take the brakes and brake actuator out then remove the bolts for the housing. Once you get the housing off you will see the seal.

the housing shouldn't have to come off at all. You remove the discs, actuator, etc... and then the seals are in there. I use a sheet metal screw to pop the old seals out, then to reinstall the new ones be sure to protect the seal lips from the splines. Last time I did it I used a pop bottle around the shafts. Make sure to drive them in evenly.

Thanks guys. Is it possible that the placement of the seal changed at some point? I can't see where a seal would seat with the actuator and discs out. I tried to get the housing off, but after taking the three inner bolts out and about a half hour of of pounding I figured I must be barking up the wrong tree, and decided to quit before I broke something. The seals that the dealer sent me definitely don't fit anywhere on the wheel side of the housing.

Those housings are a press fit into the main casting do it's good that you quit. Unless you got the wrong seals, they go right on the splined shafts. Don't have any pictures to help you any.
