oil pressure 1650 gas

My 1650 gas {1965} model seems to take 15 to 20 seconds at cold start up for oil pressure to register on gauge. This seems like a long time or is this just the way they are? I have a put a different mechanical gauge on the tractor and it still takes a long time to build pressure. The tractor holds 30 to 35 Lbs after warmed up.

If that has the standard oil filter set up, those drain down overnight at least on the ones I have seen.

In any case the filter has to be refilled. What Wisconsin Cowman said also affects it.

RT (my 2 cents)

If the pressure rises only slowly it is almost certain to be the oil line to the guage. Other faults would be more likely to result in a delayed rise, but quickly to the maximum - filling a canister before the presure rises would, for instance, mean zero pressure initially then a rise to operational pressure. 30-35psi at what rpm?

Does the pressure drop slowly, too, after switching off the engine? That would tell you something?

The pressure rises quickly once it begins to rise. It stays at zero for 15 to 20 seconds after startup. At shutdown the pressure drops quickly. The tractor holds 30 to 35# pressure at 1500 to full rpm. At idle it will hold 20# pressure.

My Oliver 1800 diesel 283 has a oil light and gauge.. the light goes out then 6 second later the gauge needle starts to move.. i do not think they have a ant-drain back check valve in the system.. my 2 cents
