The steering went today. I'm unsure what to do now? The tractor is a super 55 and has steered hard since I go it. Any idea where to start? I've taken everything off but the steering wheel (need puller) to get to reparing this. Has anyone done a rebuild on this model and can give advice? Need to get this tractor back running. What parts do I need? Had to stop repare due to rain so I'll be back at it tomorrow. Thanks guys.

To get the steering wheel off take off the nut and then take a blunt end bit on an air chisel and let it hammer in the center of the steering shaft while you hold up on the steering wheel will usually pop off in a second.

The trouble is probably the top bearing in the gear box. Turning one way,it pushes down on the bottom bearing, the other way it pushes up on the top one.

It will turn right but turning left the steering wheel just free wheels and threads out of the column. I can see a spring under the steering wheel. What is it that I need to replace. I have been dealing with this for some time. It is very hard to turn the steering wheel. I asked about this in May be time has gotten the best of me to repair the tractor. This week I wanted to use the tractor for mowing but here I am.

You'll have to unbolt the cast shaft housing from the actual steering box. Should be four 3/8ths bolts holding it.
