Oliver 550 custom made drawbar and frame

On a previous posting (Oliver 1450 vs 550 rrlund 16:38:39 04/25/13) RRLUND has illustrated a custom made frame and drawbar for an Oliver 550, which is hard to find and very expensive to ship.

Anybody who can provide basic measurements to help me make my own for my Oliver 550- 1964 , I would appreciate. I basically need to tow safely a trailer heavily loaded with logs or water with something stiffer than the 3 points lift that can go upward and sideways with little control.

If you know of easy to find parts that can be fitted with minimal adjustements, It might help too.

Thanks

That frame measures 22 inches long by 17.5 wide. The actual swinging drawbar part of it came off a 70 parts tractor. I made another one for my British built Oliver 500. On that one,the swinging drawbar is just a piece of the frame from a John Deere F145 plow. Search the archives for Oliver 500 and you'll find pictures of that one.
I had another Super 55 several years ago. I modified a drawbar assembly from a 60 to fit that one. I don't remember having to make many modifications to it. Back in the 60's,my uncle made one over from a 70 for his. I couldn't tell you anymore if he had to narrow that one up any or not.

Thanks a lot, this is what I wanted to know.
Incidentally, how long is the draw bar itself, approx.

Thanks

Martin

It's 28 inches long, but it wouldn't have to be that long. I have it in the second hole in front. It sticks out behind the drawbar frame five and a half inches, four and a half to the center of the hole.
