White 2-70 MFWD losing gear oil

Hopefully someone can help. My 2-70 is losing gear oil from the top half of the transfer case. The gear oil is spilling out of the the breather cap on the transfer case, next to the line that connects the transfer case to the rear end. This is happening only while the tractor is running. It happens whether in 2WD or 4WD. I have 80W90 in the rear end and it is not overfilled. The oil level in the bottom half of the transfer case is steady. Any ideas? Thanks!

Drain the oil from the transver case and measure the amount. If it is more then what's suppose to be in it the upper pinion seal is gone.
E mail me if you have any questions.

Not sure if this will help or not, but here are pics of dads 2-110 MFWD. The hose pictured runs from the transfer case and is plumbed into the top check plug on the rear end. If your problem is the blown pinion seal, I think you might at least consider this option, because splitting the tractor is the only way to replace the pinion seal. This setup isn't perfect, others can chime in on its faults I'm sure, but splitting the tractor isn't all that exciting as far as I'm concerned. Good luck with whatever you choose.

Sorry e mail was wrong. I have seen on either here or on another website that if you tie a line from your transfer case to the bottom of your transmission it should keep the oil level at the proper level. To fix it properly you would have to remove engine/ over under and reseal the
transver case. Hope this e mail works now. Just rebearing my transver case on 1850.
I cut out the tub to split the case worked good, didn't have to spit off the tub.

That's great advice, I'll run a 1/2" hydraulic hose from the transfer case fill back to the check plug. Splitting the tractor is not something I want to do just to replace that seal. I guess that there just isn't enough room in the tub to open the transfer case. Thanks for the help.

How did you go about cutting the tub out?? I've got a 2-110 White that I need to go into the transfer case.....and I've been putting it off, because of having to split the tractor. Thanks
