Bleeding the hydraulic system?

Hello, glad to be back on the tractor sight. I have been servicing up my Ol super 55 here lately greasing, tuning etc. etc. Today thought I'd drain the oil out of the trans. top cover at the 1/4" plug. Now eighter I am blind or can not find a procedure to bleed the the system, it does show you how to bleed the external valve system with the hoses. So my guess would be to connect a hose back to my 1/4" port say with a nipple of some sort and start her up and cycle the control lever back in forth until there is clear oil without any bubbles. I filled it up with straight 30 weight. Thank you.

It bleeds itself. You have a serial number for that tractor? If an early one you may need to increase the oil level in the hydraulic unit.

The serial number I found off the name tag was 30 772 518.. I'm not sure what year this here tractor is, but it runs very well. She does seem to leak oil and gear oil a bit. The real problem I have is after about an hour of use the hydraulic system seems to quit operating the up and down system, I'm thinking it's the O ring inside the hydraulic cylinder? Thank you....

If you place a load on the 3-point and raise it up and then shut the tractor off will the load stay up? If not, how long does it take for the load to settle?

Started it up this evening, let it warm up about 5 minutes and like you said picked up the 3 point hitch with a scraper on the back . Shut it off and last I looked the scraper has not dropped at all in about 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Not sure what that would be? I'll take a look in the morning.

Back again with some more info. on 3 point hydraulics. The following morning the 3 point hitch and scraper was all the way to the ground, probably took 12 hours or so but I would think it should never come down. Attn. Mr. J. Schwiebert. Thank you
