Oliver 1265 PTO/Clutch Operation

I'm new to the site and new to owning an Oliver but I recently purchased an Oliver 1265 to help me around the property. It runs and works great but I have a couple things I have to figure out. I have a service manual and I have ordered the the owners manual but I was hoping that someone could help.

1. The clutch works well but seems a bit high on the pedal and the only way I can engage the PTO is when it's not running, I can engage it then and run the PTO and I can disengage it anytime. So my question is that how it's supposed to work or should the clutch disengage the PTO?

2. My Oliver came with a loader however I can't operate it and the 3 Point at the same time, I can get one or the other, is there a way to resolve this? I'd like to have both operational if possible.

Thank you for your help

Paul

Your clutch is out of adjustment. You need to check both adjustments. One is the free travel adjustment, the other one which people tend to neglect is the internal one which is done by removing a plate on the right side. Check in your book for this information. If you can not find it get back to me with an e-mail address. Does your tractor have the optional remote valve for the loader? If you mean if you move both handles and the same time no if will not do both at the same time. Questions? J.

Thank you for your help, I did see that in the service manual and will certainly do that. So the PTO has two settings according to the service manual, one is live and one is meshed with the speed of the tractor but both of them are able to be disengaged with the clutch correct?

Does your tractor have a shift style lever about 14 inches long with the handle towards the seat?
that is the clutch handle on some models like the later long tractors had or it would be the foot
pedal if not. Rrlund is yours a hand clutch pto?

Good to know. If one ever comes up on an auction and the auctioneer asks if anybody knows how to run that stupid thing,I won't climb on it and sit there looking like an idiot. lol

I was told by a long dealer the syncromesh side of the selector ran off the transmission and was
used for pto driven carts.guess it could be used for seeders too

I appreciate all the input, I will be adjusting it tonight. I will be sure to update.

So there was another part to my original question that hasn't been discussed, I have a detatchable loader for my Oliver and I hook it to the hydraulics under the operators seat. The problem with this is I can only you the loader or the 3 point. Are there other options on this? How have others addressed this issue? We have a horse farm so I use the loader all the time so I want to keep it on but it makes things difficult.

I don't know if the 1265 is equipped for this or not? This is a 1365. There's an auxiliary pump that can be put on the back of these. The tractor has to be equipped from the factory to accept it though.

So I tried to adjust but didn't get it. I have to free play at the top and the normal clutch works fine. The PTO does not disengage. I have the service manual but must be missing something. With the pedal up,engaged, I adjusted the PTO clutch to .060 per the manual, I suspect the pedal position is wrong.
