White 2-105 Oil Pressure Gauge

I was mowing this morning, and noticed that the oil pressure gauge on my 2-105 had developed a flutter. Still at the top of the range, but the needle had a little quiver. I was going to replace the sending unit, but they're $80, which I don't mind if it cures it
I noticed when I idled it down, it came to about the mid range as usual, and the flutter seemed to go away
Any thoughts?
Thanks
Pete

I can't answer the question in terms of parameters but 80 dollars seems awfully cheap to head off catastrophic failure. Does the block have ports to thread a gauge into to verify what you are seeing in the cab? Whatever the tendencies of a 2-105 are I know of guys who ignored curious gauge readings only to have many thousands to spend on fixing an engine. Money is tight for me but I would do the cab gauge replacement or find a port to put a cheaper auto store gauge on if 80 bucks is hard to come up with.

''Does the block have ports to thread a gauge into to verify what you are seeing''

Easily solved with a 'tee' piece in the line? Keep it simple is my motto!

(quoted from post at 12:44:27 07/15/15) I thought that where the sender was located was out of view with the sheet metal in place?
ut a grease gun hose in between then and tie the gauge to a spot were it can be read...jeez.

I replaced the sending unit tonight - I started it up and it seemed ok. (it's on the right side, just behind the starter) I have some hay to go Friday, so we'll see how it acts. The grease gun hose is a good idea - if it's still acting up I'll get some fittings and tee a manual gauge in to it.
Thanks

I was always told to make it short as possible to minimize the chance of a leak. All the add-ons I have seen were threaded right in and the operator needed to get off the seat to verify what he was seeing on the console. If something is going to leak it will sure as heck leak on me.
