2150 Engine Front Oil Seal

Working on another 2150 at the moment. Had to pull the crank pulley to repair the broken pulley and want to replace the front seal while I'm there. Service manual says I have to pull timing cover to replace the seal, but I would swear that the existing seal that is in there was pressed in from the front.

Does anyone know if there was a service update that changed these so that the seal can be installed without pulling the timing cover?
