1550 utility?

I am looking for a second loader tractor for moving hay. Id like to have one in the shed and one in the field. I have found a 1550 utility for sale, and I have a 1610 loader. The 1610 was on a 1550 that I don't have anymore, I assume it would fit on the utility. Will the utility make a nice loader tractor? The loader never went real high on the row crop, I'm guessing it would be even worse on the utility. How fast can it go on the road, comparable to a row crop? Thanks,
Josh

What is the serial number(all 9 digits) Going by memory here but I know there are 2 speed combination for the rowcrop 1650 and I think there were also 2 for the 1550 utility tractors as well. J.

Here is a picture of my 3 1550's I have, diesel wide front with loader a diesel utility and a gas narrow front. Now I will say the utility is a very nimble tractor for sure much more than the other two. There is not that much difference in the frame height so the loader will not lift as high but it will work. As for the speed of the utility it will go down the road about 20 mph unlike the 12 or 13 mph of the row crop tractors. Mine has 14.9x28 tires on the back so one with 16.9 or 18.4x28 will go faster. Now to make sure it's a utility hear is a quick way to tell the 1550's apart, Utility have 28" back tires and a Standard or Wheatland will have 30" back tires and a Row Crop will have 34" or 38" back tires on it. I have seen plenty of 1550's for sale that say its a Utility when in fact it's a row crop with a swept back front axel. All of the Utilities I have seen have high speed rear ends in them, 1 threw 4 are a little slower than a row crop but 5th and 6th are much faster than a row crop and the gear pattern is backwards to a row crop. I took me awhile to get used to it. There good hard to find tractors. Bandit

We have a 1550 utility with a 1610 loader on it. It works ok. It was a real workhorse on our farm for 20+ years with lots of cattle and hogs. We used it a lot cleaning barns, feeding hay, etc. It is pretty worn out now, but still gets some use cleaning up brush and such. We run the loader through the tractor hydraulics and the bucket tilt will not hole (bucket is too big probably). I'd run the loader through power beyond if I were you.

I'd like to refurbish our loader and put it on a 1755, but haven't gotten that far. Reason is that I'd like to use the 1550 utility for other work like mowing and so forth.

It will move down the road, pushing 20 mph like Bandit said. Way faster than a row crop 1550/1650.
