Oliver 1550 power steering problem

My late uncle had this 1550 NF, & now my cousin is having a problem with the power steering, it's almost impossible to even turn the steering wheel, even when you're moving. I'm sure it has something to do with the pump, but not that well versed on the Olivers, & this was my uncle's first Oliver. Grew up on his farm with Farmalls. Also, what's a good source for a exhaust/intake manifold for the 1550 ?, the one on there now is cracked badly & was welded up a number of times ! Thanks for any info you guys can shed on this problem. Alan

Mine got about impossible to steer too not long after I got it. There's a needle bearing right in the top end of the steering column and there isn't a seal in there to speak of. Get some light oil or PB Blaster down around the shaft and work it in. It's probably rusted. It'd be best to do it with the column tipped straight up. I ended up taking the shaft out of mine and working some grease into the needles of that bearing with my finger.
