Started my 770 up today, turns out my weight carrier in the govenor cracked and started eating away at the housing. But I have a mischievous question... Can I just disable the govenor all together since its just a puller anyways? Anyone ever do this? I realize the possibilities of taking the guts out but u wasn't planning on playing fair anyways so... Is this possiblè to run it without?

You were exactly who I was looking to hear from. I'm the guy who commented on your
pulling video a few months ago about tire size and engine build. Thanks chuck. I'm
guessing it bc its going to be straining its guts out without a governor?

And how do you disable it? Cut the weights and carrier off and but the stem and gear
back on with the housing or just an empty housing. Mines the stamped steel carrier and
its cracked halfway through

leave the spring in place, you have to control rpm's with your hand lever on the steering column

But wouldnt the spring allow for play so the butterfly could open on its own? Normally that would be aiding in holding it back

I made a rod that runs from the linkage under the dash directly to the carb. you will also need a return spring.

For my pulling group it has to look like the governor is operational
