Are these bearings (number 6) the ones that go inside the front hubs? Are they sealed or relube wheel bearing type bearings?
Mine started squawking just a little yesterday when I made a hard right turn in two wheel drive. The planetary has oil in it alright. I added more and got it right up to the bottom of the hole. I lifted the front wheels off the ground with down pressure on the loader and spun the wheel around after I topped off the oil. I'm not hearing any grinding noise, but that left wheel has just the slightest little bit of shuck to it. The right side is tight as a drum.

Randy,

No, number 6 is located in the axle housing and only comes out once you've loosened the locknut, No 3 and backed the locking bolt No. 4 out of the axle housing. O-ring No 1 is what keeps the oil in the axle housing. The bearings I got had shields on them, but I popped the shields off so that the bearings would be lubricated from the axle housing oil.

My 2 cents, if it is squeaking when you turn, it's the U-joint bearings No 13, not the axle bearing No 6. I was able to get all the parts needed to completely rebuild these, so don't be afraid to take it apart.

If your planetary is a hair loose, there is a set of tapered bearings inside the hub that you might try tightening up.

It sounded for all the world to me just like a wheel bearing squawk. It made the noise last night backing up straight in two wheel drive. It didn't make any noise this morning when I loaded feed, but I don't want to take any chances on running it in the field for a long time moving bales until I take it apart.
I tried to call Rick this morning and didn't get an answer. I looked at his website and it said he had a seizure yesterday and was in the hospital in Akron.
I called the dealer and all of those bearings and seals are available,so I told her to send them over so I'd have them here to put right back in after I take it apart.

Might be worth draining the hub and popping the end cap off to see if maybe the sun gear is rubbing against something it shouldn't be?

If you're hearing a wheel bearing squeak, it almost has to be the taper bearings in the hub in my opinion. That roller bearing No. 6 is nothing more than a shaft bearing that makes sure the axle doesn't put radial loads on anything, but it doesn't carry any weight loads, nor does turning have any effects on it.

Also, do your king pin bearings have grease in them? Mine were shot and my spindle was loose and wobbled, and they were not greasable. Unless you absolutely MUST, I wouldn't recommend taking those king pins out, there aren't words to describe how much trouble I had with mine. Having said that, the king pin bearings are available as well, but you will have trouble finding shims for the king pin, so be as careful with them as you can as you'll have to reuse them.

Curious what you end up finding when you get it torn down.

The king pins are good and tight. They take grease and I grease them often.
The parts gal said number 6 is a kit,she didn't know for sure what was in it. She was going to call to order it and ask. I told her what it was doing and told her to just get whatever there was in the way of bearings and seals so if something fell apart when I take it apart,I'll have everything here.
The stuff didn't come today,so it'll be at least Monday now.
