Super 77 cylinder head valve guides

I have an Oliver Super 77 cylinder head. On the rocker arm side, where the valve stems come out, there are nipples (for lack of proper term) at the end of the valve guides. They came off when removing stuck valves. Are they seperate from valve stem or are they an old style one piece valve stem? Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

I THINK you are talking about a Perfect Circle type valve seal. They will NOT show up in a Super 77 parts book Is this a gas or diesel head. They were introduced by Oliver in about 1963. I will send you an e-mail. J.

This shows what I am talking about. There is a color difference.

I'd say the end of valve guide came out with the valve. The guides stick up out of the head around 3/4" or so, if your guide is now flush with the head, part of the guide has broken off. If it did, just drive it through, go to your auto parts store and get some new ones. They are so cheap, ($2) each, I just put them in each one of our fleet lines when rebuilding them.
