1953 Cockshutt 40

Bought this 1953 Cockshutt 40 from original owners daughter, it was last started 10yrs ago, my son is wanting an Ag project not sure if this is a good idea but looking for help for starting directions. It needs rear tires, hadnt had a chance to see if motor is loose I'm betting it is. I got the tractor for scrap price so off to a good start. [/img]

It is NOT A '53...............It has sliding hub axles that came out in '55. I believe it may be a 56 DELUXE!!!!!!!!!!!!!............even MORE GOOD news...........Tell us the tractor serial number. Hand stamped into the top edge of the main front tub frame.....between the engine oil dipstick and the rad.

Hello again.

On further inspection of the photos, It does not have a cig. lighter which was part of the DELUXE package in '56. It does have caps on the rear axles which were not included on the 'early '55 models, so it is a late 55 or early '56 but probably not a yellow hood DELUXE. Still a GREAT FIND!!!!!!!!!!!

Next chance I get I'll grab the serial # it may be the weekend. All encouraging info!! Any do's and dont's before trying to fire it up?

Great find! You say it will be an ag project and it needs tires, titan tires will GIVE you a set of 4 new tires if its an ag project. Im redoing a 51 Cockshutt 40 right now.
