Super wheel color?

I am working on a mid 55 super 88. It currently has green wheels. It has the small battery door, and push button start. It's been repainted once I believe. Cleaning the wheels, I strip off a coat of green and find another coat of green that matches the green on the rest of the tractor. Under the 2nd layer of green is a very uniform coat of red, on all 4 rims, and the back wheels. Under that bare cast. Did someone do a very thorough job of repainting the wheels in the past? I thought it shouldn't have red wheels until 56, and then have key start and big battery door? It sure looks like they were red before they were green.

49 250 is the serial number for the red wheel change over. The Super 88 models were the last to get the changes. My employer just sold his one Super 88 which was an early 57 and it had none of the changes. The Super 55 was the first to go to key start in January of 1957.

I remember Chris Losey telling one time that they swapped out the wheels off a green wheeler and put red ones on because the buyer wanted the size tires that were on the red wheeler. So apparently there was an Improved Super that left their lot with green wheels too.

I asked about this years ago when I was getting ready to paint my 1955 S88 and here is how it came out. I was told Green wheels

A lot can happen in 50+ years,I've changed wheels from different era tractors around on each other many times for various reasons, and Lord help anyone trying to figure out some of the pullers I've owned and turned back into farming tractors(LOL)
