My son decided to help me out by taking the discbine off the 1850 and put on the round baler. To do this you have to shift the 1000 rpm pto back to 540 and change shafts.Well he has seen me do it many times and tryed while i was in town.He said he had trouble getting the 540 shaft to go in and hit it with a hammer. The pto works and is on 540 with no noises. But i took the stub shaft back out to look for myself. What i can see is the interlock plunger shoved back out of the rear of the internally splined gear and crooked off to one side. It still has spring tension on it but i can not get it to slide back over to the hole. So tell me the bad news do i have to take the pto unit out and apart to repair or will it hurt any to use it as is. The shifter stills moves and will shift the pto unit into both speeds.
