1850 vs. 1650

Other than the engine and power handling differences, what are some pros/cons and advantages/disadvantages to each? Are the brakes better on one? Hydraulics? Steering? What else? Basically, if you didn't really need anything bigger than a 1650, but could get either for the same price, what would you choose and why? But let's compare gas to gas / diesel to diesel.

Gas,I'd go with the 1650 because the 1850 was such a gas hog,but diesel,I'd have to go with the 1850 for the Perkins engine.
If I have to sit on one all day in the field,I prefer the 1850. The platform is larger, with more over all room. As far as brakes and hydraulics,I don't know if there's a dimes worth of difference.

I have both a 1650 gas and an 1850 diesel. I interchange them on hay tools but not on tillage equipment. I'd say it is a draw on the things you have listed. I like them both but for me the 1650 has been more reliable over time, just my experience.

I haven't driven one without the hanging style brake pedals (like a 1650) for a long while. Do the 1850 brake pedals get in the way getting on/off the tractor from that side? How well do the brake pedal locks work on those?

I wouldn't say they're anymore in the way than
the other style. The pedal locks on the 1850 may
be a little better I suppose. I just kick back with
my right heel to release them.

I actually would love to find a 1750 gas or diesel. I have a 1650 gas right now. It sure seems thirsty, but I know the carb needs rebuilt. I have an opportunity to get an 1850 diesel that needs a lot of work, for fairly cheap, but I don't know whether to get it, fix it up, and sell it, or fix up my 1650 and sell it. I'd like to make some money on the deal, but if I'm just going to break even, I'd rather end up with the 1850. My 1650 works great, so I don't want to change just because and end up with something worse. I know the Perkins is far superior (I've even still got a 6-354.3 out of a 8800 combine I'm thinking about putting in a pickup, but it's just for sale right now), but there are other things to consider than just the motor. I just want to get lots of opinions (good or bad) on both tractors since I can't afford to keep them both.

I'd be quite interested but I'd have to sell my 1650 first, unless you want to do a trade?

What can you tell me about it? Got pictures?

Thanks!
