Just started baling yesterday when the 1650 apparently blew a head gasket or whatever not sure.Anyway had the 1550 diesel over at the same field that I pulled out of the woods in NC back in the Winter hooked to the tool cart and air compressor.Hooked it to the NH 851 baler and figured it be dogged to death, really surprised it handled the baler good dropped a gear mostly because the 1550 seems to be geared higher. But overall it did real well and wasn't really having much trouble pulling the baler.Going to bolt on a couple front weights for today as I have a pretty steep piece to bale will really give it a test.

I used to run my Gehl 1450 from time to time with my 1550 gas. No problems handling it at all.

Always nice to have something big enough as back up too. We bale with our Massey 285 but more than once the 1600 has been called up to the front line.

Have a 4020 JD gas, the rated pto speed on them is 1900 rpm. It could hardly handle a round baler, just sticks its tongue out even with my 1745 Massey baler that is rated for a 45 horse tractor. I used the 1850 gas on it with ease.

You would be amazed what a 1550 diesel will pull. I had a strip I had be driving on what needed to be broke up one spring, I had to move the chisel plow for something and figured why not try it. Dropped them in the ground and opened her up in 2nd gear and it was moving good till I turned around to find it was only going in about 2". It took 5 passes to get it broke up but it did it to my surprise and it's never not pulled something I hooked it to. I wouldn't want to try to do 50 acres but a strip down and back aint so bad. Kind of chunky but she got the job done. Bandit

I put a front starter weight and one stack on weight on the front to bale the steep land yesterday long steep hill about 200 yards long coming up from a creek bottom, with some 'mini' hills on the general sloop. The front end lightened up some but the 1550 did a great job for me.
