oliver 770 ignition again, plus question about pto

Ok so I posted on here a few days ago about my 770 possibly having a bad condenser. I listed one of the symptoms as that tv and radio reception in my grandparents house being bad ONLY when the tractor was running. Now I replaced the points and condenser and that tractor runs. However, today the miss came back while i was running the mower and tractor lacked power. After a bit the miss went away while still on the mower. But my dad still complains tv reception is bad when its running. Its a standard coil for a 12 volt but do I need a resistor somewhere? Also, I broke a linkage pin in the pto for the throw out bearing. I bought all new ones a year ago how do they keep breaking? If this is a on going problem fixes? Or how do you just delete the whole darn thing? We have a lot if pto tractors and wouldn't mind the weight missing for pulling and it just being a field tractor anyways... Thanks for help

The TV interference is probably from the solid-core spark plug wires. Cars and trucks have resistor wires.

Find out which pot is missing and either check the plug for resistance or move it to another pot. If the problem persists, after moving the plug, you will know whether it is the plug or that one cylinder. Alternatives might be to change out that plug, or even all of them. Substandard plugs have been known to be sold. Seems like you need a more logical diagnostic approach to the problem. Could even be down to reduced dwell angle, worn cam or other fault in the distrubutor, such as a loose conductor. Maybe changing around two plug leads might show up a moving problem if you don't have any simple test meters. First locating the current problem cylinder/plug/lead/is the priority.only then can you make progress without guessing.

I know its number two but plug and wire arc bright against the block I just don't get where this is coming from I was thinking about swapping the plug around. I was asking about the resistor bc I don't want burn up another condenser. If the voltage regulator was going bad would it overcharge the coil?

I agree that the TV interference is most likely coming from running the solid copper core plug wires as most old equipment does. My 8N did the same thing, TV fuzzed up every time I got near the house. Most people won't understand nowadays as everyone has cable or dish. Those with antenna TV know.

Buy a set of autolite plugs from Napa. Don't buy any thing else. End of story. Solid non resistor wires and also plugs ie. Autolite are factory who cares about the TV your not watching it I hope. Have you given this unit a valve set recently? Valve set is also an adjustment of the timing as well. Also make the tractor work somehow and burn the crap out of the engine. She should be good after that. Duane o.
