2-105 hydraulic leak in steering column

The neighbors 2-105 started leaking oil out of telescoping steering column. He has just put a hydraulic pump on it that he got from local salvage yard and he said everything is working ok except for the oil leak. Is there to much pressure going to the power steering and is there a way to adjust pressure? He has an I&T manual but can't find where to adjust power steering pressure if you guys think that's an option. Thanks Greg

Greg:
The steering control motor will see system pressure.   When the system is in standby (no functions being used) the pressure to the steering will be compensator pressure (normally 2200 PSI) setting.   The system has a priority valve within the pressure control valve housing (the main one).   When a function such as a remote cylinder or three point hitch activation the pressure can drop depending upon flow rate and engine RPM.   The priority valve will cut off flow to the function when the pressure drops to 1500.   At priority valve setting the steering effort will increase, however This makes sure the operator does not loose steering control.

The only way to reduce pressure to the steering control motor will be to reduce pump output pressure by adjusting pump compensator setting.   Bottom line you have to correct the leakage problem.

B A Star, thanks for the help. In the manual it looks like two seals in the steering column assembly? He had the steering column apart last night.

Don, not as bad as it looked. He had the pump off in no time. Headed over to milk his cows now I think its called quid pro quo. My horses need hay next winter. LOL, Greg

Don , not as bad as it looks. He pulled pump which is on the side of the transmission fairly quick. Headed over to milk his cows now. Quid pro quo

The steering was working and quit working while he was driving down the road. I took some pics and if you see something wrong with his pump install that he just put it on. Thanks, Greg
