Looked at a Super 55 its been sitting in a barn/shed for over 5 years,it was driven in and cut off at the new owners place he's never gotten around to doing anything with it.
Sheet metal, grill, front Oliver strip and embelm all there and straght.Tires are up and all look good, rims are good. What's it worth? I've never owned or operated one of these
whats the good and bad.

Gas or diesel? It doesn't really matter because either one is better than a Ford 8N/9N/2A. PTO adjustment can be tricky. Does it have a tongue? Seems like those are as rare as hen's teeth and finding one can cost you more than what the whole tractor is worth.

Well I went over and picked it up,its been changed over to 12V and key start.Got it home and put the jump box on it and it cranked over fine and has compression. The guy I got it from said he let it run clear out of gas when parked and the tank looks very clean.
Tach shows 2300 and some hrs, steering is very good and smooth very little play.Oil in the air cleaner is very good.It definitely needs cleaning up but might be OK try to get it started tomorrow.

Have any pictures? What year is it? Does it have any extras like draw bar, power steering, wheel weights, or external hydraulics? Enjoy it.

12 volt and key start may be original. 1957 Oliver switched them to 12 volt key start. Other markers of a true '57 are the fuel tank fill neck sticks up through the hood, short door over the radiator filler that hinges forward, and red wheels. Should also have a 519 trans and hydraulic filter in front of the seat.

A great all-purpose tractor. I have been slowly restoring one over the past 18 months, and am just about finished.
Biggest downside is replacement of the PTO clutches, which requires splitting the tractor. If your PTO lever "snaps" into the rear position, and the PTO shaft stays engaged and doesn't slip, you are probably OK.
When you change the oil, check that the vertical tube coming out of the filter base is there. The tube goes up through the oil filter, and is necessary for a good seal and proper oil pressure.
Have fun... these are fine little machines. Very well engineered and hard to find in good original condition.

Drawbar I'd assume. Not a huge deal. I made one for mine.

Yea, I meant drawbar. For some reason my dad always called it a "tongue" and the name sometimes still sticks with me. Seems like most 55s were sold without one.

Well I got it fired up ran good except there's some noise in the engine, maybe a wrist pin or who knows.Good news is PTO,hydraulics, gears, etc all worked OK.Now I guess I'll park
it in the 'to do' row.Decide to fix it,part it or if I think highly enough of it to put
the extra 660 diesel engine I have in it.Don't have time now to work on it anyway getting ready
to start hay and am late with the gardens because of the wet weather.
