Last year I was rotary hoeing with my 1850 and the water pump went out. I bought a kit and put in it and all was fine. As I finished planting beans, I noticed antifreeze blowing back along side the injection pump. That didn't last very long, guess I'll just buy a rebuilt this time. It would be a stretch to have 50 hours on the pump repair. Chris

I used to maintain a fleet of about 30 forklifts and about 15 of them were Clarks that had a Continental engine. Whenever a water pump would go out on these, I would install a water pump kit that had to be assembled with an air press. Not saying you put it together wrong, but in my case I had to do about 8 or 10 of them before I got the hang of it and I could assemble one that lasted a long time. I do remember that the seal that kept the coolant away from the bearings was very fragile. Or, perhaps you just got a bad kit.
