OC3, fluids?

I got my carb parts today and will be trying to start it this weekend
I dont have a manual yet. What oils are recommended for the transmission and hyraulics? Do the transmission and differential share the same oil, or is it two separate chambers?

As per the owners manual:

Differential and Transmission

"Use SAE 30 below 32F, SAE 40 from 32 - 70F, SAE 140 straight mineral gear oil above 70F.
When power pulley attached, add 2 extra quarts of oil"

I use straight mineral oil and avoid using the crawler when it's below 70 degrees.

Thank you. With that, i think I will fill it with a case of old non-detergent 30 weight, which is roughly equal to 85/90 weight gear oil. The oil came from an auction lot and is quite old and dark looking so I have only been using it for my saw as bar oil. If the tractor os a runner, driving it around a bit and draining it will act as a good flushing oil before filling it with the good stuff And not waste money until I know its worth it

Oils vicosity comparison chart,, looks like 90 weight gear oil is optimum for my climate.

I would not go with the 90 weight is you can find some 50 weight non detergent oil. Detergentoil will put a glse on the steering/brake bands and you will have problems steering and stopping with detergent oil.

Make sure the 90wt you get is the GL1 lube NOT the GL5. The GL1 is the old straight mineral without sulfur which effects copper and it's alloys. If you have a local oil distributor who handles "Service Pro" their part number is SP00590.

I have used Tractor Supply Hardware's Universal Hydraulic fluid in both my Oliver Super 55 and Cletrac HG 42. So far, haven't had any problems and these two tractors do get used occasionally. Like to hear what other vintage tractor owners have to say. The TSC hydraulic fluid is about half the price of everyone else..... at least here in Arizona.

Thanks. I had a friend pick some up on his way back from a city last night. I expect to find leaks, so cheap is good, but I dont want it to start with an empty pump. I have couple of vintage auto air conditioning jobs today, will probably get to the tractor on Monday.

90 weight mineral oil for diff and trans, I was told by a cletrac collector it makes a big difference, "be sure to use mineral oil" Napa had it in stock, gallons and 5 gallon size. Not sure on hydraulics, but plan to use 20 weight on our oc4. Also plan to use the 90 weight on the button head oil fittings for the track rollers and front idelers as per Zimmermans.

What are the OC3 fluid capacities? If it all works right tomorrow, I intend to drive it until everything warms up and then open all the drains and let it drain sludge for a few days.

Btw, this one has Zerks, I will use the same grease as I did on the D2

Operating and maintenance reprint is in the mail....can someone explain to me what these "button head" fittings are and how you lube things using them? Or should I just replace them with modern zerks?
My HG 42 Cletrac is pretty original from what I can determine. Has magneto, tillotson carb, PTO, electric start, and belt pulley.

Any suggestions on my 1650? My plan was to replace tranny with 80/90. I planned on universal trans/hydraulic for the hydraulic system. Thanks in advance.

Does that men you ordered one, or emailed it?
Button heads allow more lubricant flow and with a larger thread size are harder to break. They take a special end coupler on your grease gun, easily purchased.

Do any of you have the OC3 or HG manual? I need to know the capacities for the engine, transmission, differential and final drives so I can get them changed.
I will be ordering the manual today, but would like to move faster, I just got 8 truckloads of ground asphalt delivered for free and need to move it.
. If the finals drives take a fluid different from those mentioned above, i would like to know what that may be.
