1951 row crop 77 hole in the hood

I have the hood getting fixed and wondered if they ever had the hole straight up from exhaust manifold? This hood was butchered pretty bad but not rusty. I have seen the offset muffler did they all have them? I installed new front tires today so my list of things it needs is getting smaller.

Greg, They didn't go straight through the hood until the supers. Those new after market under the hood mufflers have very small exhaust exits and look silly. I made an under the hood can to exit in the original location and used a 3" pipe, a little loud, but looks good.Chuck

Thanks Chuck, I found a pair of 9 bolt pressed steel rims and the wife said it definitely needs side curtains! If you see Doug Bull tell him I said hello. I talked to him and his wife in November at a memorial service for a friend she was only 47. Greg

Chuck that exhaust looks great. Can you post a picture of what it looks like under the side panel? I'd like to see how you connected the stack to the exhaust manifold. Thanks.
