It pays to never throw anything away

The temp gauge quit working on our 1855 last fall. I had it home by my house working on a few other things and checked into the gauge, wasn't moving when I would ground out the wire. I dug in the garage a little bit and found the old gauge from my 1600 that I replaced when I repainted and rebuilt it 10 or so years ago. Hooked it up, sure enough it works.

All for the price of an empty spot in my tool box. Still got the gas gauge too...

I was digging through some stuff looking for a 12 volt voltage regulator when I changed the generator on the 66 and darned if I didn't find a good used one in a box. No idea how long that had been there.

If you are like me, you put something like that away for "safe keeping" where you will "remember" where it is... and weeks/months/years
later you run across it, and say "Hey! I forgot I had that!" or you know you have it, but say "What did I do with that??"

Oh, that is great! Ha. Yeah, I keep lots of stuff around so I don't have to buy it again later. But, later, when I need it, I can't find it, and end up buying one anyway! Then, when I'm all done and there's no way I can return the one I bought, I find the one I kept!

But don't tell my wife - she'll make me start throwing things away!
