What do you think of this idea?

I've been thinking about building up a kind of unique 1650. I thought narrow front, big front hubs from an 880,6.00x16 fronts,13.6x38 rears, raised letter clam shell fenders from a late Super 88. Make it look as small as possible, like something a modest buyer ordered to replace his 880 and didn't want the neighbors to think he'd come in to money.
She'd be quite a show piece.

Excellent!!! Especially if you have to buy another tractor to do it!!
I want to paint a 2-70 black under and green with white stripes on tin.

rrlund, I have a 1650 carcass out in the weeds if you want it! Maybe put a 3.9 Cummins in it to resemble that 1600 with the 4 cylinder. One of the local pullers has a 2255 with the clamshell fenders and narrow front. I took a pic the other day of it. We just drove by and didn't stop to get better pic. Greg

I've got my eye on one that's pretty rough. Been thinking about buying it just for the wide front. It's better than the one under my 1600 and the newer style with the brace underneath. I've got a narrow front here under another parts tractor and most of the other parts that are missing from the one I'm pondering. I've just been thinking about what I can do to it to make it really something unusual. I've always wanted a small frame four digit with a narrow front and I thought doing it up to look like an more modern version of an 880,but with the 1650 as a base,it would be quite a novelty.
Everybody seems to want to build one up to look super tough,I thought I'd try to build one that as modest as I can make it. I just have to be different than everybody else.

I even thought about putting fender tanks on mine! The operators manual I have actually shows them as option. Another way to go would be to put 30" rims and tires on the rear and get a low-height manual steering front end.

It's the tractor that should have been made instead of the 1855/1955. The increased reliability of the the Perkins over the debacle that was the 310 would have helped tremendously to make these tractors more marketable. The Waukeshua gremlins that plagued these tractors all but ruined what remained of Oliver's reputation by the time White started painting them grey.
