Hello.
Have a quick question for the Oliver people. We have only had two cylinder JD's so my dad is wondering if Oliver's run at a faster rpm then say a 4020? Thanks

Tractor data.com will answer your simple question, or perhaps the nebraska test data reports.

Yes, the Oliver does rev slightly higher than that JD, but that is not the be all and end all of the matter.

Perhaps you might consider other relevant data such as mean piston speed, before picking on one aspect of the specifications.

You might even find the Perkins engines were speed derated in the 1850 series to concur with the pto rating speed?

No, one specification, possibly selected or picked at random, does not represent a balanced assessment for comparison.

Even the engine displacements are not that comparable?

When Nebraska Tractor Test began to test for sound levels at the operator's ear, and those numbers were published as part of the test results, engine speeds with associated cooling fan and hydraulic RPMs were reduced by most of the tractor companies.
