Power steering cylinder end cap

The end cap on my 1650 power steering cylinder is stuck on tight. I took the snap ring out but the cap won't budge and I'm beating up the lugs trying to pull it out or rotate it (counter- clockwise in case it's threaded). The cap is supposed to come straight out and is not threaded, right? Would heating the cylinder help? Do you think my wife would mind if I used her oven?

Apply compressed air to the port on the cap end of the cylinder. Easy at first to move the piston to the opposite end. It will probably shoot fluid from the other port when the piston moves then blow the cap off. Keep your hands out of the way and have something to cushion the cap. It may come out with a lot of force. Haven't done this myself but did it to get pistons out of brake calipers.

I got one out last fall by standing it on end between two 4x6 blocks and picking it up and dropping it a few times. The piston in there knocked it out with just a few drops. The o-ring is probably holding it up.
