Drug this 1550 home today to save it from the scrapper. Was parked under cover 10-15 years ago because of a "cracked head". PO bought another head, but did not install it because it did not have the water port at the front of the head in order to run coolant water to the 2 speed. I'll take the original head to the machinist and have it checked for cracks for certain, but am curious if I can use the other head and just tap a hole for the 2 speed coolant?
Tractor s/n is 169018-504, original head number is either 186402K or 188402k, can't tell for certain. Replacement head is 186402, but does not have the coolant port. Block casting number is 160918A.
Assuming the original head turns out to be bad, should I try to use the other head the PO had purchased and tap a hole in it, or should I try to find another head with correct features?
