1850 and 30 inch rows

I have a stupid question... I'm trying to figure out how to set the rear wheels on an 1850 to fit 30 inch rows. I can't seem to get them in far enough. The rear
tires are 18.4 x 34. They have a "dished" wheel, which by my calculations, would give an additional 1.5 inches if reversed. Even with sliding the hub all the
way in, and reversing the dished wheel, I can barely get it inside the row, too close for cultivating. Am I doing something wrong? Do I need special rims,
narrower wheels/tires? I would appreciate any advice.

Thanks

It'll work, but you have to move your fenders in a much as possible. If you have fender fuel tanks, you will probably have to take them off. I've cultivated with mine but can't remember how the rims were. It's been around 30 years since I cultivated.

I plant and spray with mine, but mine are power adjust. There must be a way to get the regular cast center wheels in that far.

They will go in far enough for 28 inch rows (Sugar Beets) but it was a tight fit. Also remember there have been different cast centers and also different rims as well.

They will go down 30 inch rows pretty easy. Ours has the hubs on the outside of the wheel and the dish pan facing in. The tires will rub the fender in the inner most position if you slide the hubs in far enough. Ours has the early style wheels on it.

Our 1755 was pretty narrow, and when we had an 1855 rear put on they put the hubs to the outside. Plenty of room then to slide them on the axle.

Just so I understand.... If the hub is on the outside, is it difficult to tighten the bolts on the dished portion when they are on the inside? Would I remove the rim/tire at the "wedge bolts" while attaching the dish to the hub, then reattach wheel/tire when the hub and dish are secure?

I have no idea how it was done-the dealer did the swap for us. I'm sure it wasn't the easiest no matter how they did it.
