I'm hearing both, not sure which will work better at this point. There was concern about 10w-30 not coating the exposed gears as well to protect against moisture from what I've read, but at 63 years old, is that still relevent? I plan to keep the machine another 20+ years and want the best protection I can get.
Also is there a way to check the level anywhere other than the plug in the side? Some sort of stick? Judging from the bottom of the transmission, I'm sure it's down a bit.
