1550 hydraulic levers

I have a 2550 with dual hydraulic levers and the outside one works even though you can change the position of the lever the inside one stays all the way down if you pull it up it will sound a little like it's bypassing. I have looked at the shop manual and was wondering how much of a project this is going to be . My main problem is only one tractor and I use it daily. I hate to start tearing it apart if it's going to be a big project thanks

I think there's 13 five sixteenths bolts around that cover. Take the seat off first. Those levers clamp to a shaft on the inside and have a key in the shaft. More than likely just sheared one of those keys,or possibly somebody else had the cover off before and just didn't get the forks back over the pins right. Not much of a job. Half an hour to take it off and put it back on. You might want to get a gasket before you start, and I'd replace the O-rings on those tubes that will pull out when you take the cover off.

Actually it's 14. I was fabbing up a seat frame today and just happened to count them. Two on the back corners are studs with nuts. My question is how do you get to the nut to adjust the friction of the lift control lever? I can see the spring. Is the nut inside the cup of the inner lever?

That sounds good so you don't have to pull the levers out that's what worries me. It's an early one if the information I got is right its the 2nd one built 157 842 502 that should make it easier for the parts guy . Thanks for the tip on parts the dealer is 15 miles one way .Email is [email protected] thanks

If memory serves me right, there is no nut. You just have to put in a new disc and the spring holds it until it wears out. (again)

Mike: I think you said you had a parts book. Look up part number 104 482A. That is the nut that adjusts the tension. Before you adjust it, you need to loosen the little 1/4 or 5/16 inch set screw that holds the plastic pin that locks it in position. While you are doing that check the free travel on your 3 point and make sure you have at least 1 inch of movement. Questions? J.

John, my free travel is OK. I set that a while ago. The lever doesn't stay in place. If I pull it back all the way it returns about 1/3 of the way back. I just looked in the book and didn't see any set screw or plastic pin. Where is it? All I can see is the grommet for the wiring.

A couple of weeks ago I posted about the E4 clutch. Do you have any specs for it? I need to know the thickness of spacers under the pressure plate and finger height so I can reset it. I haven't found them anywhere.
