1650 hydraulics

I just bought a used Shaver HD10 post pounder to run on my 1650 gas. The previous owner plumbed the 1 1/2" return line directly into the reservoir via the fill hole. I think he was running the pounder on an AC. My question is where can I run the return line to the reservoir on the 1650? I've been told that the remotes will not handle the oil volume on the return. Any help is much appreciated.

Could be returned that way, but much better if return oil is returned below the reservoir oil level to reduce the possibility of air entrainment causing foaming. Look for a large (1-1/4) plug near the floorboard and just ahead of the rockshaft, I think a half in. square drive fits the square recess. This plug is below the hydraulic oil level. May have to heat the plug and let it cool a little before it will turn as it has been in there a long time. A couple of pipe nipples and an elbow for returning the oil there would be the best.
