She's home. 77/s88

Still haven't been able to pull serials. Aside from some leaks it's fully functional with one exception. The front bucket is slow to dump, like a cylinder is binding. Comes back fine. where should I start.

When I push the lever I can hear the engine laboring. The control on the bucket is shorter than the lift though.

Quite all this guessing. First of all look for either a flow control in the circuit. Do you have a 2000 PSI pressure gauge? If not find one. The reason the spool may be shorter is the first spool may have a float position so it would be a 4 position valve. Need pictures of the valves.

Evening is when I do my thinking when it's to late to do anything to the machine. I'll find a way to hook up the gauge when I can get it running.

For now, left is bucket, right is lift on the pictures.

fatjay, After studying your pictures I'd say you have 1952 or newer 77 with a super 88 engine. The sheet metal and dash is 77 and it has disc brakes which first appeared in 52. The starter will probably lock again if you don't replace the ring gear. Good luck with your new toy, Chuck

Thanks for the info. I crawled all over it today looking for a serial plate and did t find anything. ring gear is the gear on the starter right? Found the loader, a ware model 77. The hydro pump had a plate but it was illegible, painted over and sanded several times it seems.

Got it in the garage tonight, ready to take the sheet metal off and fold new and put it in for a new hood, sides, and grill.

The biggest concern is the brakes, they're on the side of the frame and desperately need replaced. If it's a 77 it tells me what brakes I need. Need radiator cap and new gasket for sediment bowl too.

Got it in the garage as it's supposed to rain the next few sprays, so I'll still be able to work on it.

the id plate should be on the lower left of the dash but it's missing. you can get the brakes from Korves Oliver. make sure the brake housings are tight while your in there. you need get a manual. first take the nuts off the bottom of the adjuster, then take the cover off , there will be a disc, then an actuator then another disc. These are dry brakes, if there is oil on them you will have get new seals. the ring gear is the one on the flywheel. good night, Chuck

THanks. I was going to buy a manual but wasn't sure which machine I actually had yet. I did find a stamped M500A on the underside of the frame, but couldn't find anything when I searched.

I'm going to clean the underside today, hten pull the brake covers. The pedals don't return when you depress them, and there's an excessive amount of play in the left before it actually does anything.

Two big covers, one on each side, that I'm assuming the brakes are under, with 3 bolts each. When I search for parts, I see the disc, the spring, and the actuator assembly. What is in the actuator assembly?

you should remove the adjuster nuts on the bottom before you take the covers off. the springs that pull the pedals back should be hooked to the bottom of the trans/ rear end cover. they are not hooked the break pedals and may be missing. Chuck

M500A is the casting number for the front frame. Look on the right side of the transmission case by the brake petal for a serial number tag. Look under the transmission case for a casting date and a part (casting) number.

Thanks, I looked for the plate, but there's a bit of a large hydrualic tank and loader frame in the way preventing a good view. I was then distracted when I called my father and he had a stroke on the phone, so off to the hospital where he had 3 more, so I'm not sure when I'll get to mess with it more.
