1850 almost there !

First off a big thank you to Randy for talking me through pulling the top off the transmission housing. Got it back together and now the 3 point lift works! I have several little odds and ends but the largest is retorqueing the head. The old gentleman I bought it from has passed away and I don't think he got it done. I have the manuals but they go through a whole process not just what I want to do. I guess my question is do I have to pull the fuel tank or can I loosen it and raise it enough to get the valve cover off and torque the head? Thanks in advance for your help. Lee

You raise the tank by letting it pivot on the shaft. Have the tank low on fuel so you can pick it up. We had a 2 X 4 cut to a length that made it easy to support the tank in the raised position. You will also need to remove the rocker arms to get at all the nuts. You have a book?

Glad you got it working. Now I want that thing looking like new the next time I drive it. LOL

Thanks for the replies. I actually have two manuals. An I T and one I bought from the Floyd county museum. I guess this means I get to re adjust the rocker arms. Thanks again. Randy I dont know when I will have her looking that good. Seems like I am making progress on things about like a cat eating a grindstone! lol
