Oliver 880 hydraulic questions

Reservoir was checked prior to use & filled to full mark on the stick. After I got done using tractor for about 1/2 hr I parked the it & checked the reservoir again & the oil wasn't on the stick anywhere. Is it possible the fluid could be leaking internally? I don't see any drips on the frame or on anything outside. Could it be leaking into the transmission? It worked fine though while I used it. Dads not with me anymore to help & I'm looking for his manuals now. Thanks.

The pump will crack and the fluid runs down into the rear, the 880 and 770 were real bad about getting water by the little boots on the levers.Probably froze and busted this winter.

Yes it will most likely be running thru the pump into trans. More often than not I have found that 4 $5 lip seals fixes the issue. Maybe I have been super lucky, but I have had at least 5 apart, and none had the cracked center section cracked that guys talk about on here. Last one I helped a buddy of mine do on a 880 wheatland was the same. It is not that bad of a job to do either, but you should at least have a I.T. manual before you tackle it. I probably can dig up the CR seal # so you can get the seals prior to tearing it apart. If I remember correctly on 2 of the units I also replaced the needle bearings on the pump gear shafts. These are about the easiest fixed displacement gear pumps you will find to work on, and even back yard mechanics like me can replace the seals and bearings.

Along with seal blown out or very old, a cracked center plate, it can possibly be the base plate could be cracked from ice. Seals are CR 13534, which I have on hand. This is the seal with the spring in it. I am getting some center plates made and should have some by the end of the week. Inspect the shafts to see if they have too much wear. Some of them are getting very old on those tractors by now. I have all the parts you need to repair any thing in the pump.608-two 14 3 eight five 2

Make sure it's not in the cylinders. If you filled it with all cylinders closed, then check again with the cylinders open, the fluid you are looking for is out in cylinders.

On double acting cylinders like the Olivers use fluid is on both sides so when fluid goes into one side an equal amount goes back into the system from the other side.
