1850 Speedometer Again

I took time this afternoon and took the speedometer drive on the transmission apart and checked the little gear, it is good, teeth not wore, so it has to be somewhere else. I'm starting to wonder about the drive cable. It is only a few years old, and has not had heavy usage, had to replace it when the chain coupler broke and took the old one out. Strange, the tach and speedometer both on this tractor are not working. Both acted the same, needle jumps all around and finally quits moving at all. I pulled both cables last year and greased them and both worked for a while and then started jumping around and quit working. I guess the next step is to unhook cables from tach and speedometer and use a drill to spin them and see if they work. Any ideas??

If its not the drive gear and cable is most likely OK then its got to be the actual speedo, right? Mine doesn't work at all, maybe I should dig into along with you.

I unhooked both cables yesterday after work and spun them with a drill. Tach cable engine drive end comes loose and doesn't always spin, speedometer cable has the end wore down enough it doesn't engage speedometer drive. I put a short piece of old cable in the drill and spun the tach and speedometer and they both work. Looks like 2 new cables.
