Changing the fluid in the hyraulics on my gas 1550 so when I unscrewed the housing for the filter I found a broken spring luckily I found both pieces inside the hole in the filter. Then notices a piece of metal missing from the one end and I was able to fish that back out of the housing. Is the spring all I need plus the new filter? Anyone know a good source for the spring?

The spring is the same in the 1550 to the 1850. Mine spring was missing in my 1550 when I got it and a friend had a junked 1850 and gave me the spring to put in mine. Agco should have them or should be able to get you one. Alot of those springs get lost when people change the filter, Unscrew the housing and dump the old filter and oil in a bucket spring and all. I took the filter off my White 2-70 parts tractor and it had the spring plus a cup that went on each end of the filter did the 1550 originally have these?

The filters I get for my 1550's all have a one piece filter with both ends made to it and the only thing in there is the spring and the filter. The 2-70 is just a 1655 made newer so its good to have a parts tractor to get parts off of. Wish I had a picture of the filter that's in my 1550 so you would know that it looks like, But both ends are made to the filter and the ends don't come off. Bandit
